  Family Support Counselor

VCSS Nevada County is currently accepting applications for a Family Support Counselor for our multi-disciplinary team. Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing clinical support services to children and families in Nevada County.

Essential Requirements:

1. Must possess a high school diploma/GED and two years experience working with children and/or families (Bachelor’s degree can substitute for experience requirement).
2. Must have basic knowledge of the English language.
3. Must possess a valid California driver's license, and driving record that meets the standards outlined in the Agency’s Personnel Policy; Motor Vehicle Operating Standards. Must possess personal automobile insurance consistent with the standard outlined in the Agency’s Personnel Policy; Motor Vehicle Operating Standards.

Desired Requirements:

1. Previous experience working within a Medi-Cal certified site, and familiarity with Medi-Cal billable standards and expectations.
2. Experience assisting with the delivery of services to include such things as; providing educational support, home management assistance, recreational activities, and behavioral management to adolescents and their families a plus.
3. A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
4. Skills with regard to engaging and working with parents as partners and in working successfully with a strength-based approach.
5. Crisis management experience is helpful and desired.
