The VCSS San Bernardino program is located in the expansive county of San Bernardino, but is centrally located in the city itself. The office site includes expansive offices, therapy rooms, child and family meeting rooms with home-like furnishings, large open rooms that can be utilized for staff and community workshops, forums, and other important activities. It is located within close proximity to public transportation and all of the primary freeways of the county.

This site works in close partnership with the San Bernadino Department of Behavioral Health and provides a variety of services including:

  • Assessment for crisis services
  • Crisis Intervention and stabilization
  • Response within 24 hours to the emergency service unit.
  • Individual and family therapy
  • Parent training (i.e. behavioral management, communication, daily scheduling, etc.)
  • Intensive case management including referral and linkage to community supports
  • Assessment, observation, behavioral interventions in schools and collaboration with school personnel regarding management of child
  • Collateral services
  • Rehabilitative services
  • Therapeutic Behavioral Services
  • Victor services continue if hospitalized and follow-up at discharge is continued to ensure crisis resolution
  • Psychiatric services including medication support & monitoring

The VCSS San Bernardino clinical staff is highly trained, and includes licensed, license-waivered, and para-professional individuals. These employees are highly dedicated to the mission and purpose of our work with children and their families. Treatment Support Counselor staff are available to provide 1:1 staffing including TBS and Rehabilitative in-home support as needed in conjunction with traditional mental health services.

This program embraces evidence based practices and is especially noted for its Intensive Family Services, Success First, First 5, Student Assistance Program, and Early Childhood SART (Screening, Assessment, Referral and Treatment). In addition to these science based approaches, there is also parent training offered concurrently to those parents and caregivers who have such need. Victor services are highly individualized and flexible in order to meet the specific needs of families, stabilize the situations, and to provide care for the child in the home/community.

VCSS San Bernardino strives to provide support to families and children in the least restrictive setting possible and measure that outcome by the level of restrictiveness at discharge vs. intake. In other words, our program goal is to support families needs in ways that contribute to the likelihood that they will be able to live together in family settings, with sustained improvement and resilience. Another goal is to individualize treatment goals and then provide such excellent services as to ensure a high percentage of families achieve their specific treatment goals. A third goal is to have Parents experience a high level of satisfaction with the services and we routinely measure child and family satisfaction with the services they receive.
