Staff Development

Victor is committed to the professional and educational development of its employees and has developed a comprehensive staff development and continuing education program for all staff. From our New Hire Orientation and Job-Role Certification trainings to the Management Development Program, employees are encouraged and assisted to grow both professionally and personally in order to reach their full potential as citizens within our community and as employees within our agency.

New Hire Orientation Training

All staff hired for Victor programs receive a combination of classroom and on the-job training.. Their training includes a minimum of 40 hours of classroom training  that encompasses a wide variety of topics including but not limited to: Agency Philosophy and Values, Safety Systems, Crisis Intervention and Support, Confidentiality, Special Incident Reports, Mandated Reporting, First Aid, CPR, Supporting a Culturally Diversified Work Place, Universal Precaution Training, Injury & Illness Prevention Plan, Preventing Violence and Harassment in the Workplace, Therapeutic Interventions, and Documentation.

Job Role Certification

Through individual supervision, coaching and training, the Victor Supervisor focuses on individualized performance areas relative to the job description. Documentation of the staff progress over the initial 90-day orientation period is completed utilizing a standardized agency format.  A second training evaluation is completed at 180 days to verify completion of all training and the acquisition of all skills required for the job role.  At the 180 Day evaluation, the staff is "Certified" as meeting agency performance standards.  Following this formalized six month on job training process, the supervision process is ongoing in order to ensure that the staff member continues to meet these standards throughout their tenure.

Continuing Education

Victor Training Services ensures that all trainings possible offer Community Care Licensing (CCL) and Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) CEUs. As a learning organization, we strive to provide resources that support a highly developed staff and are based on five cornerstones: 1) Continuous Learning, 2) Personal Accountability/Stewardship, 3) Positive Leadership, 4) Individual Development and Empowerment, and 5) Relationship-Based Leadership.  Victor employees are provided with a full range of training topics that allow them to receive all required CEUs free of charge and within their standard scope of employment.

Management Development Program (MDP)

Victor’s Management Development Program is designed to give employees in supervisory positions the management skills and insight to lead effective teams. This series of five courses provides hands-on instruction to help leaders and managers develop their capacity to guide others, strengthen their abilities to empower and uplift employees, and learn new practices designed to improve individual and team performance. Professional Training Opportunities

For over fifty years, Victor has provided children, youth, and their families with the individualized and comprehensive care they need to maximize their potential and lead healthy, productive lives. Victor Training Services’ highly-trained and experienced professionals bring this same commitment and comprehensive approach to advanced training courses. Victor’s specialty designed courses provide highly flexible, individualized training that is focused on the development and advancement of behavioral health professionals. These training courses have been developed by Victor to advance professional skills, giving participants the tools and knowledge to ensure the highest level of service to adults, children, and families. VTS provides relevant, up-to-date courses in the areas of Management Development, Advanced Behavioral Health, Wraparound Philosophy and Services, Evidence Based Practices and Promising Practices, and Behavioral Healthcare Organization. All VTS course participants earn continuing education units (CEU’s) as specified by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), and the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD).
